Climbing High to Raise Living Wage Standard

06 August 2015 | Updated 01 January 1970

The Living Wage Foundation has recognised CAM Specialist Support as an accredited Living Wage employer.

The commitment will see everyone working at CAM Specialist Support, regardless of whether they are permanent employees or third-party contractors and suppliers, receive a minimum hourly wage of £7.85, significantly higher than the national minimum wage of £6.50.

The Living Wage Foundation states that there are now 1,500 leading employers, ranging from independent printers, bookshops and breweries, to well-known companies such as Nationwide, Aviva and SSE that are now part of the scheme. It argues that businesses should recognise that ‘clinging’ to the national minimum wage is not good for them.

“We are happy to welcome CAM Specialist Support to the Living Wage movement as an accredited employer,” said Rhys Moore, Director, Living Wage Foundation Director. “The Living Wage is a robust calculation that reflects the real cost of living, rewarding a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay.”

CAM Specialist Support provides a range of products and services for cleaning and maintaining buildings at high levels. Its services include high-level maintenance, specialist training and professional consultancy to commercial and residential businesses.

Speaking on behalf of CAM Specialist Support, Matt Johnson, MD, commented: “Our employees are people not commodities. We want to attract and retain quality staff and so reward them accordingly. As a London based company, we pay the Living Wage of at least £9.15 per hour in London.”
