Fires In Farringdon, Kensington & Haymarket

London's Farringdon was the scene another office block fire on Thursday morning, January 25 with 65 having to leave the building. Another fire in the area in November 2017 ripped through the roof of a block under refurbishment.

Thursday's incident saw four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers called to a fire in which around 100kg of insulation materials in a storage room on the ground floor were destroyed.

Approximately 65 people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at just before 11:00am and  the fire was under control at 1:50pm.

In November, 35 firefighters attended a blaze at a four-storey block in Clerkenwell Road at the height of rush hour. Fortunately there were no occupants as the building was under development and all construction workers had left for the day.

The London Fire Brigade took to Twitter to say crews from #Shoreditch #Soho and #Dowgate continue to tackle a fire in an office block in #Farringdon Local businesses have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke.

 

Haymarket building fire - January 22 2018

Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a restaurant and offices on London's Haymarket.

All of the ducting from the basement to the fifth floor and part of the ducting on the ground, first, second and third floor were damaged.

Three people left the property before the Brigade arrived and seven people were evacuated by firefighters. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 8:10am. The fire took nearly eight hours to be brought under control.

 

 

Kensington - car park fire January 24 2018

Firefighters were called to a fire in a derelict car park underneath a supermarket on Cromwell Road in on of London's poshest areas - Kensington.

The fire crew discovered some propane cylinders close to the fire. Hammersmith Watch Manager Paul Watson, said: “When we arrived on the scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the derelict car park.

“Fortunately, the car park is not used by the public and there were no vehicles inside. Firefighters quickly dealt with the fire and stopped it from spreading. Our priority was to cool down the cylinders as they can explode when exposed to heat.”

Two fire engines and 10 firefighters from Hammersmith fire station attended from 7:20pm until 7:45pm.

 

Southwark - fire in telephone exchange building January 21 2018

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a telephone exchange building in Blackfriars Road, Southwark, London. The fire was in a plant room on the second floor but was out on the arrival of crews. There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been an electrical fault within a computer bank.

The Brigade was called at 9:30pm until 11:30pm.
