FMs on Slippery Slope Over Value

25 July 2014 | Updated 01 January 1970

A survey by De-Ice has uncovered that FMs tend to look at cost more favourably than value for money. It found that more than two thirds (67%) of FMs prioritise cost over value, which was the main finding conducted by De-Ice one of the UK's longest established winter gritting and snow clearance specialists.

The company ran the sponsored De-ice Arena at last month's Facilities Show, which proved a success over the three days. During that period, De-ice also polled a set of questions to visitors coming on its stand.

Another response highlighted 52% found social media a viable option for buying services and sourcing suppliers.

"It's a shame to see that FMs rate cost over value, but I'd suggest it provides a reflection of the industry – where FMs are pulled in every direction, and need to make decisions fast,” said Mark Lopez, MD, De-ice, commented. “On the question of social media usage, we're seeing increasing numbers of FMs approaching us through channels such as LinkedIn, and the Facilities Show provided a real boost to us from a social media perspective.”
