Hot Rods - Cars 'Pimped' by Pallet Blaze. Phones Out

21 July 2015 | Updated 01 January 1970

Ten fire engines and 72 firefighters and officers have attended a pallet yard fire on Mollison Avenue in Enfield. The whole of the yard and 25 motor vehicles have been damaged by the blaze. Telephone lines in the area have been affected.

The fire was very visible across London and in the early stages 999 control took 26 calls about the incident. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Around 25 people were evacuated and thankfully there were no injuries. A number of gas cylinders are involved in the fire. Fire crews will be cooling them down as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage."

"There was a lot of thick black smoke in the local area so in the early stages we asked local residents to close their doors and windows."

The Brigade was called at 10:10am. Crews from Chingford, Woodford, Dagenham, Holloway, Enfield, Edmonton, Stoke Newington and Tottenham fire stations. Some remain at  scene - 1:45pm.
