Scanning and Cleaning R Us

Following a competitive tender, Cordant Services has been awarded a three-year contract by Eurotunnel to take responsibility for scanning passenger passports of those leaving the UK and sending the information to the Home Office for analysis.

Under the terms of the deal the company is appointing 50 new members of staff who are employed on strict eight-hour shifts. Cordant states that intensive training has been provided with all processes monitored closely by the UK Border Agency. Strict scanning targets have been set, along with a key objective of not causing any delays to passenger journeys.

Cordant Services has also been awarded a three-year extension to its current cleaning contract at Eurotunnel in the UK, including the provision of daily office cleaning services to all the administration buildings, booths and the Victor Hugo Building passenger terminal.

“Last year alone more than 21 million passengers travelled through the Channel Tunnel,” said Geoff Taylor, Passenger Operations and Performance Manager, Eurotunnel. “We are committed to ensuring that each one of them enjoys a good customer service experience in a clean and safe environment. Cordant shares this commitment with us and has consistently delivered excellent levels of service, showing real commitment and innovation.”
