SOS - ESOS Service Launched

01 May 2015 | Updated 01 January 1970

ESOS is the forthcoming EU legislation that requires member states to introduce a mandatory program of energy audits for ‘large enterprises’. This means more than 9,000 companies in the UK alone will be required to comply – with initial audits to be undertaken by 5th December 2015.

Urbanise.com Limited has entered into a Professional Services Agreement with myfm Limited, a UK based provider of experienced professional managers and support services in facilities, properties, sustainability, energy management and IT.  Under this agreement, myfm will support Urbanise client organisations across the UK and Europe with the transition to Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) compliance and ISO 50001 certification using Urbanise’s remote energy monitoring solutions.

myfm currently provide support for Energy Management Programmes to firms such as Carillion, MITIE, Serco, Interserve and Amey including white label energy managers, energy surveys, energy bureau services and measurement and verification services. The Urbanise platform offers an automated measurement and verification solution.

Commenting on the announcement, myfm Energy Director Steve Thomas said: "ESOS is a structured response to Article 8 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive, which will impact on UK companies occupying around 200,000 buildings. The vision and ingenuity behind the Urbanise offering is reflected in its client base, which tend to be innovators looking to adopt a leading edge approach to complying with initiatives like ESOS. As skilled implementation experts we are able to ensure Urbanise clients benefit from the most effective and intelligent route to ESOS compliance."

Urbanise CEO Ben Churchill added, “Building operators are always looking for ways to reduce operational costs with energy consumption a key part of this. ESOS compliance has only heightened the focus on energy and the need to identify inefficiencies and track savings. Our remote energy monitoring technology offers a whole new level of visibility around energy consumption – allowing large organisations to reduce energy costs by up to 30% and avoid hefty ESOS non-compliance penalties. We look forward to working with myfm to make all building operators – smart building operators.”
