In the penultimate video in a series looking at technology in the multigenerational workplace, NFS Technology Group and ThisWeekInFM explore the impact of the digital agenda together with the influence of video conference technology.

Digital is now seen as essential to be considered across the management agenda, not just seen as a technology, facilities or hospitality issue.  It is defined as a key way that businesses deliver information and service together with how staff and visitors will consume the information.

Video-conferencing is also highlighted as an important business tool for collaboration when it is implemented effectively to be easy to use and operate from a number of different technologies, including mobile and tablet devices.

Video-conferencing is also especially critical for multi-location operations and for the increasing number of employees choosing to work from home, or on the go, offering an ability to engage in meetings even when working from a coffee shop!

Says Luis de Souza, CEO of NFS: “User interface and the integrated digital experience are two of the biggest issues that are going to drive effective take up of technology across the generations, in terms of how it is delivered and how it is consumed.

“In this video, we explore how companies can achieve this balance, to which the key to success is answering the critical question, ‘have we got our digital technology right with regards to the user experience?’

“Here, one of the remaining challenges with multi-location collaboration is connecting the video technology with the meeting room and in many cases the relevant desktops.  In this area, integration of scheduling tools and videos technology (room and desktop) are critical to encourage greater collaboration.

The organisations that are able to provide this end-to-end solution are the ones which will enjoy good take up of this important technology.”

The video series is based on a recent white paper authored by Luis de Souza entitled: The Multigenerational workplace – five insights every CIO needs today.
