Workplace Week - Innovation and Inspiration

13 September 2013 | Updated 01 January 1970

A number of organisations in both the public and private sectors, are opening the doors on their most interesting and ‘inspiring’ workplaces as part of Workplace Week (4-8 November 2013) and in support of the BBC Children in Need appeal. Visitors will get a 90 minute tour and the chance to see and hear at first hand how these organisations have responded to trends in work, technology and management.

Destinations this year include the BBC’s New Broadcasting House in central London and Media City at Salford Quays; Mintel’s London HQ;  KPMG at Canary Wharf and PWC near Tower Bridge; Fruit Towers, home of Innocent Drinks; RBS and Lloyds of London in the City and the offices of Network Rail in Milton Keynes. More visits are currently being added to the programme.

“Visiting innovative workspaces and talking to those involved in their creation and management is a great way to understand how organisations are responding to changes and pressures,” explained Andrew Mawson of organiser, Advanced Workplace Associates (AWA).

“We’re really grateful to all those who have agreed to open their doors during Workplace Week in support of Children in Need.”

As well as the workplace visits, Workplace Week includes the Workplace Week Convention (5 November). An impressive list of speakers has been assembled to discuss and debate Driving productivity through the connected workforce. The line up includes  Phil Jones, managing director at Brother UK; Curtis McLean, founder of Innovation Places; Keith Saxton, director of financial services at IBM Research; Jessica Pryce-Jones, founder of the I-Opener Institute in Oxford; and Mark Sherfield, COO of global accountants BDO.
