Celebrity Golf Classic 2024

We are thrilled to confirm our Classic which takes place at the incredible Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

Royal Lytham has hosted the Open Championship on eleven occasions, most recently in 2012, when Ernie Els landed the last of his four Majors, to add to his two US Opens and the 2002 Open Championship at Muirfield. This is your chance to tread the same fairways and greens as the legends and play one of the world’s finest courses, in the company of a couple of English sporting heroes!

Our very special guests for the day are Spurs, Man Utd and England striker, Teddy Sheringham, and fearsome England fast bowler and 2005 Ashes hero, Steve Harmison. With a Gala dinner and accommodation nearby at The Glendower Hotel to follow an afternoon of world class golfing, this is an event not to be missed.

Royal Lytham & St Annes

Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club is one of the premier links courses in the World, host to eleven Open Championships, two Ryder Cups and numerous other major tournaments including The Women’s Open, The Senior Open, The Amateur Championship and The Walker Cup. The Open was first held at the course in 1926, and most recently in 2012 when it was won by South African, Ernie Els, other Open winners here include David Duval in 2001, Tom Lehman in 1996, and the great Seve Ballesteros in 1979 and 1988. When Seve won his final major at Royal Lytham in 1988, he described his final round of 65 which beat Nick Price by two shots as “perhaps the best round of my entire career.”

Teddy Sheringham

Teddy enjoyed an astonishing professional career spanning 25 years, with almost 1000 appearances in club and international matches. A prolific striker, he scored over 350 goals, including 22 in the inaugural Premier League season of 1992-93, landing him the Golden Boot. His most successful spell came at Manchester Utd, where he won 3 consecutive Premier League titles between 1998-2001, and an FA Cup in 1999. Four days after the FA Cup triumph, Teddy scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, then with seconds remaining, Ole Gunnar Solskjær scored from Sheringham’s flick-on, and United won the famous treble of the Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League. Regarded as a legend at White Hart Lane, his two spells at Spurs were very prolific, with 125 goals in 277 appearances. Despite not winning his first cap until 27, Teddy had an excellent England career with 11 goals in 51 matches, the highlight being the SAS partnership with Alan Shearer in 1996, when England made the semi-finals, including a 4-1 destruction of Holland, which people still talk about to this day.

Steve Harmison

A fearsome sight in full flight, Steve terrorised batsmen around the world during a career spanning 63 Tests and 58 One Day Internationals. With 226 Test victims, he features highly in the pantheon of English fast bowlers. Steve played a pivotal role in the 2005 Ashes victory, and in a series of many defining moments, his dismissal of Michael Kasprowicz in the Second Test at Edgbaston with the visitors needing two for victory, is regarded by many as the most important. The four-pronged pace attack of Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Andrew Flintoff and Simon Jones was surely England’s finest for many years, working in tandem at the top of their games. The late, great Aussie legend Shane Warne paid Steve a fine compliment by naming him as one of his 50 greatest ever cricketers, in his prime he was probably the best fast bowler in the world.

Dave Fulton

Dave enjoyed a 15-year professional cricket career with Kent, playing in 200 First Class matches with an average in the high 30s, and over 100 one day games. His best season came in 2001, when he scored an incredible 1892 First Class runs at an average of just under 76, being crowned PCA Player of the Year. Since retiring from the game in 2006, Dave has forged a career as a sports journalist and event host, appearing regularly on Sky Sports’ cricket coverage and as a presenter on Sky Sports News. A huge sports fan, Dave has previously hosted our Long Room Lunch at Lord’s, Gold Cup Lunches, Football World Cup big screen events and boxing hospitality, and brings a high level of knowledge and professionalism to our events.
