• Mitie Wins Major COVID-19 Test Centre Contract

Mitie has won a new one-year contract to manage 175 regional and local coronavirus test sites and 105 mobile testing units across the UK.

The retender means that Mitie will continue to provide cleaning, clinical waste management and security services for COVID-19 test centres, with the addition of around 50 more sites.

The new contract, worth up to £365 million over the year, will have the option to extend for up to six more months.

Over 11,000 Mitie employees based across the UK will work in the test centres, supporting local communities in identifying and controlling coronavirus infections, helping to prevent the spread of the virus.

Simon Venn, Chief Government and Strategy Officer, Mitie, said:

As lockdown restrictions continue to ease and we enter a new phase of the pandemic, we stand ready to support local communities to respond to potential outbreaks and help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
