Running Rough And Bargain Booze - Sending The Right Signal

15 August 2018

An Incentive QAS team will take on the Rough Runner challenge to help armed forces families; Helistrat will be getting wasted at Bargain Booze and other supermarkets in the chain; Cleaning & security firm Westway will hit the £25million turnover mark; BIFM is seeking insight; and ISS has signalled for its Danish workplace management & design arm to come to the UK.

Signal Gets Go Ahead

Signal, the strategic workplace management & design (SWMD)  arm of ISS in Denmark, opened a new office in London on August 14.

The UK office is Signal's third national office in addition to the existing locations in Denmark and Norway.

Gitte Andersen, Global Head of Workplace Management & Design, said: “Our ambition is to be leading global providers of SWMD. ISS serves some of the world’s strongest brands. It is these global customers that will become Signals’s primary customers."

The office is co-located with ISS in Canary Wharf. Signal will initially focus its attention on targeting London's financial sector.

BIFM Insights

The British Institute of Facilities Management has entered into a deal with business and market development agency, b2b partnerships as part of the scheme for BIFM to transition to the Institute of Workplace & FM.

Chris Moriarty, Director of Insight of BIFM said “We know that FM is at a significant point in its history. It is facing a range of challenges and opportunities, and we need to do more to understand and articulate what these possibilities mean for our profession.

“We have a number of ideas for areas of investigation already. The insight we gather will provide the right guidance and support for our members and the wider profession.”

Westgrove At 25

The growing security and cleaning company Westgrove Group has said it will increase revenues by over 30% this year.

The Warrington firm says it will top £25million in the current financial year and is aiming to grow its turnover to £40million by the end of 2021.

Westgrove employs over 1,000 people in over 50 shopping centres across the UK working with major landlords and managing agents including CBRE and Savills UK.

MD Claire McKinley Smith said: “Offering a dual service approach has been significant in terms of growing our business. Most sites we work with require both security and cleaning so it makes sense to use one provider. There is one point of contact and the teams have exposure to the same colleague benefits such as training and development, reward and recognition.”

Rough Runners

The Incentive QAS team are putting themselves through a grueling challenge in the name of Scotty’s Little Soldiers – a charity to assist bereaved families of armed forces.

On September 8 a team of 20 will be participating in the Rough Runner 5km obstacle race in London’s Finsbury Park. Rough Runner is a game show inspired obstacle race combining challenges from Gladiators, Ninja Warrior, Takeshi’s Castle and Total Wipe Out.

Each member of the team has been tasked with fundraising £100 each to hit a £2,000 target.

It's The Bestway

Helistrat has won a contract with Bestway Retail for over 200 stores, worth an estimated £700,000.

The 3-year contract will see Helistrat manage the waste and recycling for over 200 Central Convenience and Bargain Booze stores. Helistrat will improve the availability of waste and environmental data, enabling the retailer to improve its reporting capability and optimise its waste and recycling services.  The implementation will be supported by a dedicated communications campaign providing stores with information and resources.
