• Mitie Acquires JCA Engineering for £31.5m

Outsourcing firm Mitie has acquired Stevenage-based engineering contractor JCA Engineering in a deal worth £31.5 million.

Mitie will pay an initial cash payment of £21 million and up to £10.5 million in performance-based payments over the next three years.

JCA employs over 200 people and specialises in maintaining buildings with a high degree of mechanical and electrical engineering systems, such as data centres. This will assist Mitie in expanding its capabilities in the life sciences and healthcare sectors.

The founder and chair of JCA, Ian Hodges-Jackson, began his career with a mechanical and electrical engineering apprenticeship at  British Aerospace. He co-founded JCA in 2004.
