History of ABM and creation of ABM UK

  • ABM (NYSE: ABM) started out as a one-man window cleaning business in San Francisco. A man called Morris Rosenberg founded the firm with an initial investment of $4.50 for a mop, a bucket and sponge and profit on day 1 totalled $3.50.
  • Fast forward 117 years and ABM still offers cleaning but the business looks very different. ABM now generates approximately $5bn in revenue, employs over 100,000 people serving 20,000 clients across 300 international locations.
  • ABM acquired Westway in December 2015 when it was looking for a hard services business to sit alongside soft services specialists OmniServ and GBM Support Services, with a view to offering fully integrated facility services in the UK. On the back of these acquisitions, ABM UK was formed.
