Property developer, EcoWorld Ballymore, has launched a research project at its flagship Wardian London development in Canary Wharf.

Commissioned in collaboration with biofit Health and Fitness, the research aims to explore the impact of green urban living on personal wellbeing.

A survey will be conducted in the pop-up Wardian Case, a space defined by its nature-inspired biophilic design. From its abundance of natural light to an array of air purifying plants, guests are invited to reserve their place for an hour (or more) of quiet contemplation, a refreshing dose of 'vitamin nature' or creative brainstorming session since Monday 22 January to Friday 2 February 2018, between 10am-6pm.

The experience is designed to leave Canary Wharf residents and professionals feeling rejuvenated, calm and upbeat and ready to take on the urban jungle outside.

A survey created by a team of scientists from the University of Essex, including Dr Mike Rogerson and Professor Jules Pretty OBE, will assess the benefits of exposure to this environment during each visit. The study will look at mood, concentration and stress levels upon arrival and departure, with the results to be published in 2018.

Wardian London aims to facilitate outside-in living, connecting residents with innovative green spaces throughout the development. It takes inspiration from the Wardian glass case, the 19th Century creation of Dr Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward, which facilitated the transportation of tea plants across the globe and the subsequent transformation of London’s Docklands into the commercial hub we know today. Just as Ward’s cases protected exotic plants from treacherous sea-voyages, the development’s luxury suites, apartments and penthouses provide an oasis of calm for residents looking to create their very own botanical living space. In keeping with EcoWorld Ballymore’s commitment to embracing green spaces, each apartment comes complete with a spacious garden terrace up to 32.7 sq. m in size, while a bespoke landscaping service is available that is tailored to fit residents’ lifestyles.

The development is also defined by its connectivity and seamlessly coexists with one of London’s most vibrant and well-connected commercial centres. Just a three minute walk from Cabot Square, Wardian boasts transport links to destinations across the capital. The introduction of Crossrail in 2018 will improve connectivity further, dramatically cutting travel times and linking Canary Wharf to London’s other major business hotspots. London City Airport also provides a convenient route to the continent and beyond.
