Mitie Launches Facilities Transformation Hub

Mitie Launches Facilities Transformation Hub
28 November 2023

Mitie has opened a technology demonstration hub at its headquarters at The Shard.

The Facilities Transformation Hub is a space where customers can sample some of the tech solutions that it uses across its FM service contracts, including cleaning robots, digital twins and enhanced CCTV.

Cijo Joseph, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Mitie, said: “This is an exciting time for our industry, the needs of our customers are constantly evolving and so must we. By embracing new technology, we have the opportunity to rethink how we deliver our services, shifting from facilities management to facilities transformation.”

AI-Enhanced CCTV

At the hub, customers can demo Mitie’s next-generation CCTV solutions, which use AI to detect suspicious items and identify threats and vulnerabilities across an estate.

Virtual Reality

Harnessing the power of digital twin technology, customers can use virtual reality to reimagine buildings. They can also experience the power of data and analytics to improve the efficiency of their customers’ buildings, tracking equipment such as HVAC in near-real time.

Task Management for Healthcare

Those working in the healthcare sector can trial Mitie’s AI location-based task management system, which automatically assigns tasks, such as cleaning and portering services, to the nearest available colleague.

Merlin Connect and Cleaning Robots

Visitors to The Facilities Transformation Hub can also experience the “robot revolution”. Mitie has a fleet of robotic cleaners which not only save the equivalent of almost three Olympic-sized swimming pools of water compared to traditional mopping methods over a year but also perform more arduous tasks so colleagues can concentrate on more urgent or specialist jobs.

The company is also deploying specialist “spill detect” cameras to enhance cleaning response times.
