On 24th March 2022 the 3rd BGIS UK Apprentice Day was held at the Novotel in London’s iconic Tower Bridge area. This half-day event brought the BGIS Building Services Apprentices together to hear from guest speakers from a range of complimentary service providers on the international Facilities Management scene.

Following on from the success of the BGIS Apprentice Days in September and December 2021, the March 2022 event highlighted BGIS’ commitment to Training, Development and Succession Planning by working in partnership with others, to highlight the importance of learning whilst earning, for entry level team members in the FM industry.

Speaking at the event was the esteemed Jonathan Gray from Troup Bywaters + Anders, one of many industry partners who share the same passion for development and training as BGIS. “Apprenticeships provide a platform for individuals to learn and advance their career aspirations via a fast-track route through academic and practical development.” says Claire Oliver, Head of HR at TB&A. “We all have a responsibility to assist, nurture and develop individuals within the industry through sharing knowledge and experiences, we believe should be embraced.”

BGIS Technical Manager Stephen Hanson, together with Tahira Chaudhry, People & Culture Manager, organise and manage the Building Services Apprentice programme for BGIS. Their commitment and passion for the nurturing and developing entry level apprentices is reflected in one of their five Core Values – Team Member Engagement. “Apprentices embody our ethics and culture and are key to the development of our business. It is our duty to encourage and support them and present them with the opportunities we ourselves were once fortunate to have. In doing so we keep engineering alive and thriving. I continue to be amazed by our apprentices and feel privileged to be part of their journey.”
