How does your PAT testing knowledge measure up? Take the online quiz that tests how much you know about Portable Appliance Testing.
Whether you’re an electrician, facilities manager, a health and safety professional or an electrical engineering aficionado, you can gauge where there may be gaps in your understanding of PAT Testing.
TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE
Electrical safety test equipment specialist Martindale Electric has put together an online quiz that tests your knowledge, alongside a dedicated “Essential Guide to PAT Testing” with useful information, hints and tips.
“According to the Health and Safety Executive, 25 per cent of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances,” explains Steve Dunning from Martindale.
“From these figures, it is clear that a large number of incidents and injuries could be prevented with proper electrical checks, inspections and safety tests. That is part of the reason we wanted to put together an easy to access info hub for any competent person carrying out PAT Testing. Hopefully it’s a great reference area that users can come back to time and again.”
According to the HSE, most electrical safety defects can be found by visual examination but some types of defects can only be found by testing. However, visual examination is an essential part of the process because some types of electrical safety defects can't be detected by testing alone.
