FM and Construction Professionals Named in The King's New Year Honours List 2025

Professionals in the fire, facilities management, construction and workplace wellbeing industries have been recognised in The King’s New Year Honours List 2025.

More than 1,200 people have received honours this year – let’s take a look at those who have made outstanding contributions in the FM sector:

 

Ian Moore

 

The Chief Executive Officer of The Fire Industry Association (FIA) has been awarded an OBE for his outstanding services to the fire industry and public safety. 

Ian is a member of several fire and security committees and has been at the helm of the FIA since 2015, growing the association to become Europe’s largest fire protection trade association with over 1,200 members. He has championed several fire safety measures such as the development of fire safety qualifications and minimum industry certification requirements. Ian also helped to establish a building safety information portal to support homeowners affected by cladding issues following the Grenfell Tower fire.

Sir Ken Knight, former Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser for England, said: “Ian’s work has had a real and lasting impact on fire safety. His efforts have improved industry standards and helped countless people across the country and beyond.”

 

 

Amos Simbo

 

Amos Simbo, the Founder of Black Professionals In Construction has been awarded an OBE for services to the construction industry and diversity. The Black Professionals In Construction (BPIC) Network supports ethnic minority individuals working in construction and the built environment, to enhance representation and advocate for inclusion best practices.

 

 

Chris Spratt

 

Director of International Property & Services at Cambridge University Press & Assessment Chris Spratt has been honoured for his voluntary work with the Volunteer Cadet Corps, working with Royal Naval Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets between the ages of 9 and 16. 

 

 

Trystan Wyn Lewis

 

Trystan Wyn Lewis, Facilities Support Manager at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, has been recognised with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for patient health and wellbeing services, particularly improving green spaces at hospital sites in the West Area Integrated Health Community. The project involved renovating a derelict walled garden within the grounds of Bryn y Neuadd Hospital, which now hosts weekly gardening sessions for patients.

 

 

Patricia Dolores Pile

 

Patricia Dolores Pile, Facilities Manager for UK Export Finance, now has an MBE for her public and voluntary services.

UK Export Finance said in a statement: “Pat Pile's 35 years of dedicated service has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of our organisation, embodying our values of taking responsibility, excelling together, respecting all and making a difference.”

 

Bill Toner

 

CH&CO CEO Bill Toner has been awarded an MBE for services to the hospitality sector.  Bill said: “I’m shocked but incredibly honoured to have received an MBE. What a fantastic way to end what’s been a monumental year!

“The hospitality industry is a very special sector that offers unbound opportunities to so many people. I’ve enjoyed a fantastic career, and I must thank everyone that has contributed along the way, from colleagues and industry friends to the clients and partners, who have enabled me to realise my ambitions, and to the industry associations and charities that do such an incredible job in supporting everyone within our sector.

“Last but by no means least, I thank my wife and family for their unwavering support, and I look forward to celebrating with them.”
