Read Full ArticleThe International WELL Building Institute has introduced a new building health rating specifically for co-working spaces.
The WELL Co-working Rating, administered by The Instant Group, measures over 50 wellbeing features such as air and water quality, light and thermal comfort and occupier fitness and nourishment.
This is a first-of-its-kind WELL rating for flexible workspace operators.
Launching the new rating at the WELL Regional Summit in London, The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) introduced organisations that have committed to being the first to use the new offering, including Koba, Landmark, Clockwise and Iconic Offices.
A 2024 report by CoworkingCafe shows that there are more than 3,300 co-working spaces in the UK and Ireland, nearly twice the number of co-working spaces per capita as in the United States. In 2019, prior to the pandemic, just 4.7 per cent of UK employees worked from home or hybrid, but 13 per cent were working from home all the time by 2022.
IWBI President and CEO Rachel Hodgdon said: “Everyone deserves a healthy workplace that supports their physical and mental wellbeing, and we couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with The Instant Group to expand the reach of WELL’s science-backed strategies alongside our first cohort of dedicated market leaders.”
