Amey Takes Full Ownership of Defence Sector Joint Venture

31 July 2025

Amey has taken full ownership of defence sector joint venture AmeyBriggs.

AmeyBriggs, a joint venture between Amey and Briggs Group, was formed in 2020 to deliver the Ministry of Defence’s MITER contract (Military Integrated Training, Equipment, and Resource).

This is a seven-year consolidated service contract to maintain and manage a fleet of construction and materials handling equipment. It was previously made up of three separate contracts: The Defence Mechanical Handling Equipment (DMHE), Protected Engineering Equipment and C Vehicle capability.

Peter Jones, Group Managing Director of Briggs Group, said: “I’m pleased to be able to complete this deal as it leaves the fulfilment of this contract in good hands. We combined our skills to win the MITER contract back in 2020 and the successful delivery of that is a testament to the people involved. I wish the team well with the ongoing activity under Amey Defence Equipment.”

“Around 140 employees and supply chain members make up the AmeyBriggs contract and these people will bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the wider Amey Group.”
