• CMA Clears MRI Software’s Acquisition of Capita One

The Competition and Markets Authority has cleared the acquisition of Capita One by MRI Software. 

The deal was first announced in July 2024 and completed in September 2024.  However, in November 2024, an initial enforcement order was made by The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to ensure that the deal would not “be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition in any market or markets in the United Kingdom.”

This notice was revoked, and a merger enquiry was launched in January 2025. On 18 March, the acquisition was cleared.

Capita One, a subsidiary of Capita plc, provides software services to UK local authorities, local education authorities, housing associations, and schools. It is believed that the acquisition will extend MRI's public sector client base.
