Panattoni Park in Swindon is set to become a major player in the large-scale logistics market.
The new industrial hub lies on a 360-acre site which was previously home to a Honda manufacturing plant. When completed, Panattoni Park will provide 7.2 million sq ft of logistics space.
As part of the first phase of the redevelopment, main contractor Winvic has broken ground on a 915,000 sq ft unit, making it the largest project of its kind ever undertaken in the UK.
This unit features a 21-metre clear internal height and a cross-docked service yard which extends over 90 metres. It will target BREEAM Outstanding and an EPC rating of A.
Later phases in the project will see the delivery of a second 545,000 sq ft facility, which is already under construction, and a readily available plot with UK planning permission for 1.2 million sq ft of space.
All buildings on the site will aim to achieve net-zero carbon in construction.
James Watson, Head of Development – Southern England & London at Panattoni UK, said: “Having recently leased Panattoni Park Avonmouth, the largest speculative warehouse to have ever been built in the country, I’m pleased to announce today we are now commencing construction of an even larger speculative warehouse in Swindon. Panattoni Park Swindon embodies our model: scale, location, power, and quality—delivered ahead of demand. Panattoni Park Swindon is one of our largest developments globally and will be exemplary in its class.”
