CAM Drone Services, a CAA-certified drone inspection service provider, has announced the launch of Precision Asset Intelligence, a building condition reporting service designed to support more informed, safer, and cost-effective property maintenance decisions across the UK.
The service responds to three persistent challenges faced by property and asset managers: rising inspection and maintenance costs, safety risks associated with working at height, and delays in obtaining reliable condition data. Traditional surveys often depend on scaffolding, access platforms, and extended site time, which can significantly increase costs and disrupt building operations.
Precision Asset Intelligence uses drone-based inspection methods to capture high-resolution visual, thermal, and spatial data across entire building envelopes in a short timeframe. In many cases, surveys that previously required several days of access equipment and manual inspection can now be completed within hours, with reports typically issued within 24hours and within 48 hours for more complex ones.
Independent cost comparisons indicate potential reductions of between 53% and 70% when compared with scaffold-based inspections, depending on building type and complexity.
Key areas of impact for Asset Managers include:
Cost efficiency
By reducing or removing the need for scaffolding and access equipment drone inspections can lower the overall cost of condition surveys while still delivering comprehensive visual records and measured outputs.
Health and safety
Drone-based inspections allow assessments to be carried out with surveyors and engineers remaining safely on the ground, reducing exposure to risk and supporting safer working practices.
Speed and decision support
High-resolution imagery, real-time video feeds, and rapid reporting enable earlier assessment of defects, faster insurance or maintenance decisions, and clearer prioritisation of remedial works.
The service incorporates thermal imaging to help identify issues that may not be visible during a standard visual inspection such as moisture ingress, insulation defects, and thermal bridging. This data can support energy efficiency assessments and contribute to wider decarbonisation and Net Zero strategies by highlighting areas of heat loss across building portfolios.
Reports are structured to support both short-term maintenance planning and longer-term capital expenditure (CAPEX) forecasting, providing a consistent evidence base for asset management decisions.
James Dyer, Founder of CAM Drone Services said: “Building owners and facilities teams often need answers quickly, but conventional access methods can slow the process down. Our focus is on providing timely, accurate condition data that allows informed decisions to be made earlier - before minor defects escalate into larger issues.”
