Senior military attendees from the Ministry of Defence spoke about their experiences during active service to an audience that included ISS team members, many of whom are also veterans.
Liam Eyers, Project Deployment Director for Government, Healthcare, Education, and Co-chair of ISS Military Community ERG, said: “I’m proud to work for an organisation that supports our Armed Forces, and recognises the challenges we all face when we leave the military — as a veteran myself, I understand the difficulty in adjusting back into civilian life and work. ISS champions those who serve or have served in Armed Forces by recognising the unique skills we bring from our time in service and helping make that adjustment easier.”
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge to acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect. As a signatory of the covenant, ISS promises to support veterans, reserves and cadet organisations, as well as service spouses and partners. Through its JointForces@ISS, the company helps service leavers and their spouses to transition into civilian careers.
Vice Admiral Andy Kyte, Chief Defence Logistics & Support and Chief Naval Logistics Officer, said: “It’s great to visit organisations like ISS that are creating pathways and opportunities for our Armed Forces community. Ex-service personnel value this recognition, and this reaffirmation of that commitment through the Armed Forces Covenant is really important.”
