IWFM Announces New CIWFM Certification Route

IWFM Announces New CIWFM Certification Route
25 September 2024

Facilities management professionals will now have an alternative route to becoming certified, using skills and knowledge gained on the job rather than via academia.

The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management’s (IWFM) Experiential Route to CIWFM is a pathway designed for FM workers who have gained their skills from work experience.

Anyone who holds a senior or strategic role in workplace and/or facilities management can apply, as long as they are able to provide work experience examples that meet the IWFM Professional Standards.

“An experience-based pathway has long been on our members’ wish list, and I’m thrilled that we have answered their call and together we step forward to broaden the professional base of this critical sector.”

– Linda Hausmanis

CEO, IWFM

IWFM CEO Linda Hausmanis said: “Workplace and facilities management can transform organisations. IWFM is dedicated to ensuring the profession thrives in today’s globally competitive environment by underpinning it with globally recognised standards of competency.

“The Experiential Route to CIWFM creates a brand-new opportunity for highly experienced professionals whose professional competence comes from applied experience, rather than formal education. They can now be assessed against the Professional Standards and attain the recognition that they deserve.

“An experience-based pathway has long been on our members’ wish list, and I’m thrilled that we have answered their call and together we step forward to broaden the professional base of this critical sector.”
