Leeds United, recently promoted back to the Premier League, has published new CGIs to demonstrate its vision to transform Elland Road into a UEFA Category 4 standard stadium, enabling the club to host elite-level European fixtures.

Elland Road has sold out every match for the past six years, with more than 26,000 fans on the season ticket waiting list. The new plans will modernise the ground and expand capacity from 37,645 to approximately 53,000 seats, focusing on the North and West Stands. The project will be delivered in phases to maintain as much seating as possible during construction.

Acoustic consultants have been engaged to ensure Elland Road’s atmosphere is retained, and a transport consultant has been commissioned to improve access and traffic management. The wider project team includes KSS, Buro Happold, and RISE.

Leeds United Chair and President of the club owner 49ers Enterprises Paraag Marathe said: “We recognise how important Elland Road is to the Leeds United fans and the wider community. The opportunity to refresh a century-old stadium, coupled with the legacy of Leeds United, is unprecedented. Our plans reinforce our commitment to the long-term success of the club and I am excited that we are going to be able to welcome thousands more supporters to every game, in a stadium that retains the unique atmosphere of Elland Road. We look forward to sharing our plans with supporters and the local community for their input.”

Leeds United will run a series of public consultations throughout May, inviting supporters to review and offer feedback.
