Jim Melvin said: “I’m hugely looking forward to our first major discussion with APPG members about the vital role our sector has in restoring public confidence during and after the pandemic. It promises to be an informative, valuable and very important discussion.
“We think the key areas include what businesses need to do to reassure their workforce and visitors and whether they ready and able to do that.
“We believe that cleaning and hygiene needs to be prioritised and highly-visible, and delivered by professional staff in a sustainable way in our work and public spaces order to restore confidence.
“But this is not just about what we do during the pandemic. We think this presents an outstanding and much-needed opportunity to change the UK’s culture for good in order that health and wellbeing are always at the top of the agenda and there is recognition of the important role of the cleaning and hygiene sector in achieving that.”
Anyone wishing to watch the Zoom conference live should email in advance. The recording of the briefing session will also be hosted on the Cleaning and Maintenance website after the event has taken place. The APPG has the support of a sizeable number of MPs from all the major political parties and members of The House of Lords. The group exists to promote the critical importance of the cleaning and hygiene industry to the people of the United Kingdom. The BCC acts in the role of secretariat and is organising a significant number of steering groups in seeking to carry out the industry’s clear, focused and much needed strategic aims.
