NG Bailey and Dalkia Engineering Limited have become the latest companies to sign the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) Member Pledge, reinforcing their commitment to stronger supply chains and higher standards.
The companies signed the pledge during the recent BESA President’s Lunch at the OXO Tower, London, joining a growing movement of contractors taking responsibility for driving change across the industry.
The Pledge encourages contractors to bring their supply chain partners into BESA membership and demonstrate their capability through the BESA Competence Assessment Standard (CAS). Its message is clear: Competence must be proven, not assumed.
BESA said that, by signing, NG Bailey and Dalkia Engineering Limited were helping to put independently assessed competence at the heart of supply chain relationships and procurement decisions. The pledge aims to strengthen confidence in project delivery, reduce risk and build trust between contractors, their partners and clients.
Their commitment reflects the call for greater industry pride made by incoming BESA President Anna Shephard during her inaugural speech. Shephard said: “As expectations around building safety, energy efficiency and building performance grow, building engineering services has an opportunity to demonstrate the value of its people and expertise.”
BESA also announced that more industry leaders were set to sign up to the pledge with major contractors signing at its Annual Conference on 22 October 2026 at The Brewery, London.
With the theme “Going Beyond Compliance”, the conference will bring industry leaders and technical specialists together to explore how stronger competence, better collaboration and ambitious leadership can deliver better buildings.
Paul Eagle, Technical Director at Dalkia Engineering and BESA Vice President, said: “Signing the BESA Member Pledge is a proud moment for the company. We want to help build a better industry, and that starts with taking responsibility for the standards we set and the businesses we work with.”
Eagle continued: “Our supply chain partners are essential to our success. By supporting them to demonstrate competence and develop their capabilities, we can strengthen relationships, improve delivery and give clients greater confidence.”
Eagle added: “This is building engineering services’ moment. We should take pride in our expertise and the difference we make every day, then turn that pride into action. The pledge gives us a practical way to lead change together.”
Jonathan Stockton, Chief Executive Officer of NG Bailey said: “We are delighted to sign the BESA Member Pledge and join this growing movement for a better industry. Strong supply chains depend on shared standards, collaboration and confidence in each other’s capabilities.”
Stockton continued: “For NG Bailey, this commitment is about working with our partners to strengthen those foundations, champion proven competence and support the delivery of safe, high-quality buildings.”
Stockton added: “Our industry has an enormous contribution to make to the UK’s future. By investing in our people, supporting our supply chain and leading by example, we can help raise standards and inspire the next generation to take pride in a career in building engineering services.”
