Read Full ArticleA shredding service provider has achieved a UK waste management industry first, reaching lifetime carbon neutrality in line with The Carbon Neutral Protocol.
Shred Station has offset its historic carbon emissions, neutralising its carbon footprint for the company’s entire lifespan, through offsetting activities and emission-saving initiatives. This includes using Euro 6 low-emission vehicles, using biofuels, swapping company cars for hybrid or fully electric models, using solar power at its head office, recycling 100 per cent of the paper it destroys and operating a “Zero to Landfill” policy. The company also supports offsetting projects such as reforestation initiatives.
Assessments performed by Climate Impact Partners and Nature Positive have confirmed Shred Station’s achievements, benchmarked by The Carbon Neutral Protocol, an open-access framework that guides businesses in their carbon-neutral journey.
“Our customers are at the forefront of what we do. Becoming lifetime carbon neutral was important to us to ensure that every Shred Station customer, regardless of when they used our services, has been given the same certified carbon neutral experience”, says Simon Franklin, Founder and Managing Director at Shred Station.
“Becoming lifetime neutral was the next step in our journey towards becoming a true net-zero business by 2030, and we are now way ahead of our sustainability targets. This is an industry-first and we are committed to lead, and continue leading, by example”.
