CBFM, a long-established Northeast firm specialist in commercial HVAC design, air conditioning installation, maintenance and servicing along with facilities and buildings management, has recently completed the installation of a 198kW rooftop chiller unit at the city’s prestigious Science Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The 25000 sqm complex is an international science village where scientists, clinicians, educationalists, and business staff work and research to promote Life Sciences and it is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Northeast with approximately 250,000 visitors each year.

The site includes the biggest planetarium in the whole of the North; TV recording studios; lecture theatres; experiment zones and even a play space set aside for the under sevens.

Says Harl Bowman for CBFM said “The Centre has benefited and entertained so many people since its inception over two decades ago. Groundbreaking fertility treatment was the product of painstaking research and trials by doctors, clinicians, and scientists whose dedicated work has helped and continues to help people live better, healthier lives.

“Our work on site included removing the redundant equipment from site and working with a tower crane to remove the existing chiller from the roof. We fitted new pipe works and lifted the new chiller into place along with installing all associated components and electrical works. Our operatives and supply chain worked hard to deliver a quality project, and we are immensely proud to give something back to this great facility and play a small part in keeping such an iconic local landmark running”

CBFM offers bespoke installation and maintenance contracts for full HVAC services including commercial heating and air conditioning with an emphasis on delivery service excellence and energy efficiency.

CBFM’s Harl Bowman added: “We have built our reputation on service excellence, ensuring the job is done with minimal fuss. Our team of highly trained and qualified engineers consistently deliver outstanding results.”
