Read Full ArticleA new digital portal to make it easier for the public sector to find suppliers for a range of FM services has been launched.
Buyers from both central government and the wider public sector can access the online portal to purchase a range of facilities management services, from maintenance and cleaning to security and catering.
Those using the system can search for suppliers based on contract value, location and even more qualitative information such as a company’s sustainability credentials or approach to diversity and inclusion.
The programme will enable SMEs to bid for public sector contracts, supporting the government’s aspiration for £1 in every £3 to be spent with SMEs by 2022.
Launched by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS), the portal has been developed to provide a “simplified procurement route” to save time for facilities managers.
The system gives users the ability to shortlist suppliers by specific location and allows them to obtain an estimated contract cost.
It also enables buyers to save key information about their buildings, enabling easy updates for future procurements.

Contractors that are listed on the portal are divided into three lots, according to the contract value. Those attaining a total contract value of £50 million-plus include ISS, Interserve, Mace, Mitie, Servest Group and Sodexo.
FMs can also search for suppliers based on social value priorities and measurable local benefits, such as an efficient and sustainable public estate or support for diversity and inclusion.
Contract length can be awarded for up to seven years with an option to extend by up to three years.
The portal can be accessed here.
