Yorkshire-based security and facilities services provider First Response Group has been awarded Entrepreneurial Business of the Year: above £10 million at the inaugural Security and Safety Entrepreneurial Awards.

The awards are for entrepreneurs, start-ups and established businesses that focus on security and safety, with winners praised for their innovation and adaptability, customer focus and value proposition, leadership and culture, and social impact and sustainability.

Simon Alderson, CEO of First Response Group said: “FRG has a people-first mentality, and it is all thanks to our founders Edgar and Jamal, who have instilled a collaborative culture within the organisation since it began 17 years ago. This award is testament to the entrepreneurial spirit they have shown, and which our colleagues have embraced over the years, with a special focus on building growth through people.”

Founded in 2007 by Jamal Tahlil, and Edgar Chibaka, who are both African immigrants, First Response Group provides security, fire and facilities management services, such as CCTV and cleaning, for customers including Aldi and the NHS. In 2020, the company was named on the Sunday Times’ “10 Fast Track Ones to Watch” list.

Professor Martin Gill founder of the Security and Safety Entrepreneurial Awards commented “We are thrilled by the success of the inaugural Security and Safety Entrepreneur Awards; the number and quality of entries we received in our first year was truly fantastic, all those who were nominated should feel a profound sense of pride in their accomplishments and especially the winners.”
