Deloitte has taken 29,500 sq. ft of office space on the first and second floors of the Halo Building in Bristol, hailed as one of the UK’s most sustainable buildings. Deloitte South West’s team of 750 now operate together under one roof, having previously been based in two separate offices in the city.
Deloitte selected Halo for its new office as it’s one of the first buildings outside London to achieve BREEAM Outstanding accreditation. The development features high-efficiency air-cooled chillers, energy-regenerating lifts, rooftop solar panels, and joinery made from recycled resin, all contributing to reduced energy and water consumption, as well as lower carbon emissions.
A pioneering conservation and deep retrofit of the Grade II Listed Lasdun Wall at the University of East Anglia is due to commence in autumn 2024.
The Lasdun Wall, built by Sir Denys Lasdun in the 1960s, requires significant work to continue to be usable as part of a modern university campus. Significant emergency investments and unsightly temporary safety measures were necessary due to issues with the original detailing including leaks, failing concrete panelling, poor airtightness, solar gain, single glazing, and a lack of insulation.
Contractor Mace has been awarded the contract for the first phase of the revamp, with work scheduled to begin in autumn 2024.

The Multiversity mixed-use educational development will bring up to 3,000 students and staff into Blackpool town centre. Morgan Sindall Construction’s North West business will be the main contractor on the £65 million build.
The Multiversity would include two phases, starting with an education campus on the corner of Cookson Street and George Street, followed by future development across the southern end of the site by Milbourne Street and Grosvenor Street.
The plans would deliver up to 32,600 sqm of education space and commercial space across several phases, starting with the new Multiversity building.
The main campus building plans to be carbon-neutral in operation, with the surrounding area on George Street landscaped and pedestrianised to make it a safer environment for students and local people.
