How PTSG Is Keeping The Summer's Biggest Events Running Safely

How PTSG Is Keeping The Summer's Biggest Events Running Safely
16 July 2026

As the summer season gets under way, PTSG is preparing to head to some of the UK's biggest music festivals and sporting events - bringing with them the powered access platforms that keep large-scale productions safe, on schedule and running at height.

It is not the most visible part of what makes a festival or major sporting event work, but access equipment is fundamental to almost everything that happens before the crowds arrive.

Stage rigging, lighting installations, banner and signage work, structural inspections, temporary infrastructure builds - all of it depends on safe, reliable access at height. For event organisers and production teams, having the right machine and a skilled operator on site can be the difference between a job completed on time and a costly delay.

NSS, a PTSG Company, operates a fleet of truck-mounted access platforms ranging from 20 metres to 70 metres, available for hire across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.

The hire division serves multiple sectors - including media, sport, construction, property and facilities management and infrastructure - and has developed specific knowledge of the demands each one places on access equipment and the teams operating it.

For festival and event environments in particular, the variables are considerable. Sites are often temporary, ground conditions vary, access routes can be restricted and timelines are tight. NSS offers free site surveys as part of its hire process to ensure the right machine is specified for each job before it arrives on site - avoiding the kind of mismatches that can disrupt event build schedules.

All NSS operatives are directly employed and trained to work in line with strict safety standards. The company doesn't use subcontractors, meaning the same quality and consistency of service applies regardless of location or scale of job.

NSS operates with national coverage and 24/7 availability, 365 days a year - a practical necessity for event work, where build schedules rarely respect conventional working hours. In-house equipment means the company can respond rapidly when requirements change at short notice, without depending on third-party suppliers.

The hire service sits alongside NSS's wider divisions in commercial maintenance, cleaning, and testing - meaning clients with broader facilities requirements can draw on a single provider across multiple workstreams.

With the summer event season now in full swing, the team is already on the ground at sites across the country - making sure that when the gates open, everything above head height is exactly where it needs to be.

Here's where the team is heading this summer:  KLM Open 2026, Epsom Racecourse, Trooping the Colour 2026, Isle of Wight Festival 2026, Italian Open 2026, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon 2026, BMW International Open 2026, The Amundi Evian Championship 2026, Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2026, Genesis Scottish Open 2026, FishOMania 2026, 154th British Open 2026, Portugal Masters 2026, Glorious Goodwood 2026 and AIG Women’s Open 2026, to name but a few.

Nick Brock, Operations Manager at NSS, said: "Summer is our busiest period and some of the most complex work we do is in event environments. No two sites are the same - the ground conditions, the access constraints, the timelines - and our team has to adapt quickly. What we bring isn't just the machine; it's the experience to use it safely under pressure, and the reliability that event organisers need when there's no room for things to go wrong. We're really proud to have worked on some of the biggest events - from Glastonbury to The Grand Prix."
