PTSG, a provider of specialist building compliance services across the built environment, has officially opened its new Centre of Excellence in Manchester – a transformational investment designed to set a new benchmark for technical training, safety preparedness and workforce development across the industries it serves.
Located at Alma House on Grimshaw Lane, the new facility represents a major strategic milestone for the business and signals PTSG's continued commitment to innovation, operational excellence and, above all else, its people.
The Centre of Excellence officially welcomed customers, industry partners, education providers, suppliers, colleagues and invited guests for a showcase launch event.
The launch marks the culmination of a significant refurbishment and transformation project that has converted the site into a best-in-class training and development environment, combining modern classroom facilities, specialist practical training areas and collaborative operational space designed to prepare PTSG colleagues for real-world environments with precision, confidence and consistency.
The facility has been specifically designed to support practical and classroom-based training across all five divisions of PTSG's business, including specialist disciplines such as working at height, access and safety, electrical services, fire solutions and water treatment.
According to PTSG leadership, this is about far more than training alone. It is about creating the safest, best prepared and most capable workforce in the sectors the business serves. It is about raising standards. And it is about building long-term capability not only for PTSG itself, but for customers, supply chain partners and the wider industry.
The launch of the new Manchester facility signals a bold move towards a more immersive, future-focused approach to workforce development, combining classroom learning, practical hands-on experience, simulation-based learning and mentoring-led operational readiness.
Designed around the principle of "training for reality", the facility enables PTSG colleagues to gain practical experience in safe, controlled environments before entering live operational settings.
PTSG believes this approach is fundamental to its long-term ambition of creating a workforce defined not only by technical competence, but by confidence, consistency, professionalism and safety leadership.
The Centre also forms a major part of the Group's wider ESG, social value and community strategy.
Over time, PTSG intends to make elements of the facility available to customers, supply chain partners, education providers and future talent entering specialist technical sectors, supporting broader industry training needs and helping to address skills shortages across the built environment and engineering sectors.
This includes ambitions to deliver both specialist technical programmes and wider workforce development training in areas such as first aid, safety preparedness and operational best practice. PTSG believes the Centre can become an important regional and national asset for industry capability development.
The official launch event includes guided demonstrations across the Centre's specialist training environments, giving guests the opportunity to experience first-hand how PTSG is investing in the next generation of engineers, technicians and operational leaders.
As the business continues to grow, the Centre of Excellence will play a central role in developing the skills, capability and confidence needed to support customers across the UK, helping to raise standards across the specialist building compliance sector for years to come.
Greg Ward, Chief Executive Officer of PTSG, said: "The PTSG Centre of Excellence is one of the most important investments we have ever made as a business because it represents a major investment in people. The facility has been created to ensure our engineers, technicians, supervisors and future leaders are trained, prepared and equipped to operate safely and brilliantly in demanding real-world environments.”
Ward added: "At PTSG, we believe excellence is trained. We believe confidence is built through preparation. And we believe our responsibility extends beyond simply delivering services – we have a duty to help raise standards across the sectors we operate in. This is about creating a culture of readiness, professionalism and operational excellence that benefits our people, our customers and the wider industry alike."
Paul Teasdale, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of PTSG, said: "This facility represents the future of workforce development in our sectors. We are creating an environment where people can learn, develop and thrive, where technical excellence is matched by operational discipline, professionalism and pride.”
Teasdale continued: "Our ambition is not simply to build a better business. It is to help build better industries. At a time when customers rightly expect higher standards, safer delivery and greater social value from their partners, this investment demonstrates our determination to lead from the front.
Teasdale added: "We want PTSG to be recognised not only for what we do, but for how we do it, and for the positive contribution we make to the industries, communities and people we serve."
