ISS has expanded its suite of apprenticeship schemes with a new programme aimed at developing women into leadership roles.

The Women in Leadership Apprenticeship Programme is open to female employees at ISS and the first cohort of 25 started in July, 2024. The scheme has been co-ordinated in partnership with apprenticeship specialists and ISS training partner Learnmore.

A new cohort will begin the apprenticeship this month, working towards a fully recognised Learnmore qualification which combines leadership and management apprenticeships. Further cohorts are expected to commence in November this year. Eligible applicants for the programme must be current ISS employees, and contracted to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with schemes available for people at any stage in their career.

According to ISS’ 2023 Gender Pay Gap reporting data, 56.67 per cent of of their employees are women and the Country Leadership Team has a 50:50 gender balance However, women are still under-represented in management positions: 38 per cent of middle managers and 33 per cent of senior managers are women.

Jo Roberts, Chief Financial Officer at ISS UK & Ireland, said: “At ISS, we strive to provide the best working environment for our employees to develop, so I’m thrilled to see that this Women in Leadership apprenticeships programme extend to provide a new more opportunities to colleagues across the business. Developing the leaders of the future early is so crucial, and we hope to encourage more women to come forward and kickstart their journey in leadership through these apprenticeships.”
