The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management has established a strategic partnership with the Government Property Profession.

The collaboration will allow both bodies to elevate workplace and facilities management standards across the public sector estate and address critical maintenance issues identified by the National Audit Office this year.

There will also be a focus on accreditation, with the Government Property Profession (GPP) pledging to accredit 90 per cent of government workplace and facilities professionals in senior practitioner and leadership roles with approved professional bodies by 2030.

Over 7,500 property professionals work across the government estate, which comprises over 203,300 assets with a total floor area of 159.5 million m².

Jonathan Nobbs, The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management  Director of Membership and Partnerships, said: "For many years, IWFM has enjoyed a strong collaboration with the Cabinet Office. The signing of the partnership marks a new phase of our work together, centred on a shared strategic ambition to improve standards, to support existing facilities management professionals to be the best they can be and to inspire others to be part of this impactful profession."
