Snowsfields Quarter, a new life sciences hub in south central London, will be located next to Guy’s Hospital.

The site will include three new buildings, comprising 360,000 sq ft of multi-functional space, including 245,000 sq ft of laboratory facilities.

The area is currently home to an NCP car park, the Miller Pub, shops and the Margaret House office building at 111 Snowsfields.

Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation (previously known as Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity) are partnering with Oxford Properties and Reef + Partners to deliver the scheme. The development will be fossil-fuel free and aims to be one of the most sustainable new life sciences developments in London.

Snowsfields Quarter will create 890 long-term jobs, equating to nine times more economic output than its current usage, according to a financial report prepared by economic consultancy Volterra.

“Snowsfields Quarter builds on the Foundation’s long history of investing in the health in Southwark,” said Laurie Lee, Chief Executive at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation.

“The development will contribute to the growth and success of the wider SC1 Life Sciences Innovation District, while helping inspire and equip the next generation of scientists and health professionals. Snowsfields will be a place at the cutting edge of healthcare, creating inclusive growth as well as good quality jobs and improving lives locally, while driving groundbreaking research to improve health outcomes globally.”
