28 October 2024

Brookfield Properties has appointed Matt Hern as its next Head of Operations, taking over from Steven Cheshire, who will retire in 2025.

Matt has been with the real estate developer for 11 years, working on iconic landmarks such as Principal Place, London Wall Place, 99 Bishopsgate and Aldgate Tower.

His new role will see Matt overseeing the engineering, technical, and property management of Brookfield Properties’ 5 million sq ft London office portfolio. He’ll also lead decarbonisation efforts across the company’s buildings and supply chain.

Dan Scanlon, President at Brookfield Properties UK, said: “We are excited to welcome Matt into his well-deserved new role. His extensive and varied experience at Brookfield Properties positions him well for this next chapter.

“I would also like to extend our collective thanks to Steven for his exceptional contribution over the last 11 years. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on our business, and we are grateful for the strong foundation he has built for future success."

Matt Hern, Senior Vice President of Operations, Brookfield Properties UK, added: “I am delighted to have been entrusted with the operational oversight of our London portfolio and leadership of our Property Management and Engineering teams. I have inherited a great team from Steven, who are committed to delivering first-class service across our London portfolio. I look forward to working with them, alongside our occupiers and supply partners, to continue providing a best-in-class experience.”
