Read Full ArticleMitie has acquired DAEL Ventures UK, together with its subsidiaries DAEL Telecom, JB Towers and JISTICS.
Mitie already provides maintenance and engineering services for 20,000 telecoms assets across the UK and Ireland, but the move is intended to bolster Mitie's telecoms capabilities.
DAEL Ventures UK is a provider of acquisition, design and construction (ADC) services for telecoms infrastructure. The business also provides specialist managed services of temporary mobile infrastructure to support the special events market, as well as bespoke structural engineering and design services for telecoms assets.
Andy Train, Managing Director, DAEL Telecom, and James Brennan, Managing Director, JB Towers, will join Mitie to create a new Telecoms business unit within Mitie’s Technical Services division.
DAEL’s design and installation experience coupled with Mitie’s technology and scale will provide an end-to-end service for the industry, from mast design right through to decommissioning.
As the UK gears up to establish a full 5G network over the next 3-5 years, the existing mast network will need to be upgraded and Mitie will look to support this with its improved offering.
DAEL Ventures UK has a reputation for design capability and innovative solutions across building sites in remote and complex locations such as the highlands and islands of Scotland.
This flexibility will combine with Mitie's efficiency processes such as optimising planned maintenance and reducing the number of engineer visits or ‘truck rolls’ to sites.
Carlo Alloni, Managing Director, Technical Services and Integrated Facilities Management, Mitie, said: “With the acquisition of DAEL Ventures UK we are broadening and deepening our telecoms offering which will benefit both our customers and the UK and Ireland’s wider mobile network as we support the rollout of 5G. Together, DAEL and Mitie can offer the best in design, technology innovation and service and I look forward to welcoming the DAEL team to Mitie.”
Phil Bentley, Chief Executive Officer, Mitie, said: “The acquisition, which is aligned with our new growth and margin enhancement strategy, provides us with the opportunity to broaden our scale and expertise in the fast-growing telecoms sector. Mitie will now have market-leading capabilities, putting us in a strong position to take advantage of the growth prospects arising from the rollout of 5G in the UK.”
