Document management services will still remain part of Mitie’s integrated facilities management (IFM) service offering to their clients, but will fall under a preferred supplier partnership with Swiss Post Solutions (SPS).
As part of the acquisition, SPS will take over the respective customer base in the United Kingdom as well as over 900 employees.
The deal is conditional on the completion of a TUPE consultation process with employees of Mitie Document Management and is expected to complete by the end of September 2021.
Mitie Document Management's UK clients are mainly from the legal services, financial services, banking, retail and insurance sectors. The business delivered revenue of £48 million for the twelve months to 31 March 2021.
SPS is an outsourcing provider for business processes solutions and innovative services in document management. With an international client base, SPS builds end-to-end solutions for location strategy, process optimization and technology, such as intelligent automation.
Part of the Swiss Post Group headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, SPS’ 7300 employees and specialized partners span the full range of the industry with a focus on banking, insurance, telecommunications and healthcare, addressing customer needs in more than 20 countries.
SPS is looking to grow its document logistics and business process services business across the UK and Ireland.
“This acquisition is a perfect fit to SPS’ strategy to grow the business in Document Management and Business Process Services and will strengthen our position in the UK and Ireland market. For both our existing and newly acquired clients this will be a positive step as SPS expands its capability, experience, and service offerings across a variety of industry sectors”, says Jörg Vollmer, CEO of SPS.
“We very much welcome our new clients and employees to SPS and look forward to driving continued success in the future.”
Phil Bentley, Chief Executive Officer, Mitie Group, added: “By joining forces with Swiss Post Solutions, the Document Management business will continue to grow and flourish, allowing Mitie to focus on our technology-led, Science of Service strategy in our core divisions.
“I would like to thank the Document Management team for their contribution to the group, and we look forward to working with SPS to bring new innovation to our existing and future IFM clients.”
