Read Full ArticleThe Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers has opened its new head office at Saffron Hill, Farringdon.
After selling its Balham headquarters in June 2024, CIBSE now has 16,995 sq ft of space across lower ground, ground, and three upper floors, compared to the 9,311 sq ft at CIBSE’s former office.
CIBSE hopes the site will become a hub for CIBSE staff and members to meet and connect. It will also act as a Skills Hub, with dedicated spaces such as the members area, modern training rooms and a versatile theatre.

From January 2025, the next phase of delivery will begin, with the development of flexible spaces designed for training, meetings, lectures, conferences and a collaborative members area.
CIBSE’s previous site at 222 Balham High Road was the institution’s home for over 45 years. Whilst retrofitting the existing site was considered, the cost involved meant that a relocation was the best option.
Ruth Carter, CIBSE’s CEO, said: "The relocation of our head office into central London is more than just a move - it is a reflection of CIBSE’s forward-thinking ethos and our desire to create a space that supports collaboration, inclusivity and innovation. This new space is designed with our members and the future of our Institution in mind. We look forward to welcoming our members and continuing to grow together in this vibrant new space."
CIBSE staff moved into the new head office in December 2024, and the team hopes to begin welcoming CIBSE members to the site in autumn 2025.
