- New Membership Body for M&E Asset Surveyors Launches
02 April 2025
A new association to improve professional standards in asset surveying has launched.
The Association of Professional Standards for Asset Surveying (APSAS) is the creation of Matthew Steptoe of TSA Surveying, Mark Spilling of Assets55, Karl Horner of Mobiess, Vanessa Mason of Thomson FM and Mark Whittaker, also of Thomson FM and Chair of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM).
It was formed after a series of roundtable briefings within the asset surveying sector, and with advice from the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and IWFM.
The group has pledged to “improve both the quality of asset surveying and to provide a clearly defined and supported career pathway for existing and potential new entrants into the profession” through corporate and individual membership. Members will be offered a newly created technical training manual, with online training courses to follow.
One of the group’s aims is to create a career pathway for the training and assessment of asset surveyors and to retain new entrants into the profession.
Founding members include Mitie, Bellrock, Troup Bywaters & Anders and Rider Levett Bucknall.
Anyone interested in finding out more should contact the team at info@apsas.co.uk
