Read Full ArticleOCS and Morrisons have introduced cobotic cleaning machines at retail logistics sites.
The Tennant T16 machines clean and dry floors autonomously with a 25-metre sensor radius at Morrisons’ eight logistics sites. After initial mapping sessions to ensure the machines could navigate the logistics floor, the machines can clean specific spaces when not in use, allowing for deep cleaning.
Productivity has increased to seven to eight hours of cleaning per day and ATP tests at one site showed that the site’s cleaning efficiency has improved by about 30 per cent.
In 2023, the global cobot market was worth $1 billion and by 2025, it’s predicted that robots will represent around 10 per cent of total industrial robot sales.
OCS says that the technology intends to free up cleaning staff to handle more complex cleaning tasks across the sites. “We view this as an innovative step to revolutionising our ways of working within OCS and for our customers and we are delighted Morrisons have come on this journey with us.” said Andy Cawdron, Sector Managing Director for Food and Distribution at OCS UK.
Julia Moorhouse, Procurement Manager at Morrisons added “We are excited to partner with OCS to introduce innovative cobotic technology to our logistics sites. This collaboration not only enhances our cleaning efficiency and hygiene standards but also allows our onsite teams to focus on more critical tasks. The introduction of Tennant’s T16 machines has significantly improved productivity and cleanliness, ensuring a safer and more efficient working environment. This initiative underscores our commitment to leveraging advanced technology to drive operational excellence and cost savings.”
