The Making Of JLL’s Flagship Office In The UK

The Making Of JLL’s Flagship Office In The UK
19 October 2026

1 Broadgate is more than a flagship office; it's a living example of the strategies, frameworks, and partnerships JLL bring to their clients every day. This article explores the 'how' and the 'why' behind their approach.

Learn directly from the JLL leaders1 who have pioneered new strategies for sustainability, wellbeing, inclusivity, and experience. Discover the challenges they faced, the innovations they deployed, and the lessons that can be applied to workplace journeys.

Brighter Futures
Building Sustainability Through Circular Innovation

Hundreds of products were given a 'second life' at 1 Broadgate, embedding circular procurement into a complex, 90,000 sq ft fit-out. 500 tonnes of carbon was saved and the building is on track to achieve BREEAM Outstanding by making reuse the starting point, not an afterthought.

JLL sustainability experts used data, frameworks, and execution expertise to embed circularity at scale – without compromising budget or timeline.

Brighter Spaces
Supporting Health, Comfort and Wellbeing

A destination workplace must actively support employee wellbeing. An evidence-based approach – from acoustic zones and flicker-free lighting to a comprehensive wellbeing suite and 18,705 sq ft of outdoor terraces – comes together to create a healthy and restorative environment on track for WELL Platinum certification.

JLL project management and design teams delivered spaces grounded in evidence – from acoustics to air quality – ensuring every detail actively supports health, comfort, and performance.

Brighter Spaces
Designing for Neurodiversity and Accessibility

A space that caters for the widest range of needs was designed by partnering with inclusivity experts from day one. JLL’s approach to inclusivity aligns with their ambition to secure a WELL Equity Rating at 1 Broadgate.

A truly inclusive workplace is one where everyone can perform at their best. Embed accessibility and neurodiversity principles into the workplace from the start – create environments where all people feel they belong.

Brighter Experiences
Creating a Frictionless and Flexible Workplace

A great workplace experience is one where technology feels effortless. A mobile-first approach – from digital access to smart lockers – and flexible zones create a seamless, productive day for every colleague, enabling hybrid work that 'just works'.

Great workplace experiences don't happen by accident – they're deliberate. The JLL workplace strategy creates environments that flex with the business, support diverse work styles, and enable people to do their best work every day.

Andrew O'Donnell, UK COO at JLL, said: “1 Broadgate is a living and breathing embodiment of who we are and seek to be – a visible demonstration of JLL’s culture. An environment where our people can thrive, a destination workplace that demonstrates the power of in-office collaboration and a place that prioritises employee wellbeing. It shows a new way to build workspace with circularity at its heart. 1 Broadgate brings the very best of JLL together in one place.”
