AI Chatbot Provides Support for FM

10 March 2023 | Updated 08 March 2023

Chat GPT has received significant attention in the field of natural language processing (NLP) due to its ability to generate human-like text and perform various language tasks with high accuracy. This technology is particularly useful in the restaurant industry because it can analyse data and provide insights and recommendations in real time.

As technology continues to advance, data analysis has become an increasingly integral part of successful business operations. Yet, the task of reviewing and analyzing data can be daunting, especially when paired with the already demanding workload of running a restaurant. As a result, many restaurants lack the bandwidth to make informed operational decisions based on data, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities for improvement.

In today's competitive restaurant industry, it's crucial for businesses to make data-driven decisions. However, for many restaurants, the task of reviewing and analysing data can be overwhelming and time-consuming. Restaurants often rely on gut instincts and experience rather than data, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities for improvement.

Transparent Operations

Pairing Microsoft's flagship tool Chat GPT with ClearCOGS Predictive Forecasting System creates a comprehensive place to "Ask" questions about their operations and receive "Answers" in real-time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With this system, restaurants will have the ability to access accurate and actionable insights about their inventory and operations at their fingertips. By leveraging the power of GPT-3, the latest in natural language processing technology, ClearCOGS AI Operations Manager will be able to understand and respond to even the most complex questions about the restaurant's inventory, sales, and operations.

The system is being designed to provide restaurant operators with an easy and intuitive interface to access the wealth of information and insights that ClearCOGS has to offer. With just a simple text-based query, operators can get real-time answers to questions such as "What are my top selling items this week?" or "I only have 20lbs of chicken in inventory, what's the chance I'm going to run out today?". This allows them to make informed decisions about their inventory and operations, without having to spend hours poring over spreadsheets and reports.

Changing Work and the Workplace

It's clear to see the potential of conversational AI in other commercial sectors. Chat GPT has been helping coders to identify errors in website design and software development, and it's apparent that with some further autonomy and input direction, machines will be able to take over more and more base-level digital tasks. In terms of chatbots, many businesses already use a rudimentary form of this for troubleshooting before connecting to an actual agent – how long will it be before this system substitutes the agent?

A text-to-image software service called Stable Diffusion has recently gained popularity, as well as some similar tools like Midjourney and LensaAI, using a database of art and photography to produce new computer-generated commissions. This is the cause of much controversy in the graphic design world – it is quite obvious that similar technology will be able to create solutions for simple corporate branding projects and the like within the near future, very affordably. At a time when dwindling office sharing has resulted in many working relationships lacking the human touch anyway, how hard is it to imagine accepting the liaison between a business and an AI, to develop the company's visual media presence, as a norm?

The FM industry has been notoriously slow to digital adoption and adaptation, however, the recent energy cost concerns and carbon reduction goalposts have presented a need for data to be analysed as efficiently as possible. It is less a matter of how large a role automation and artificial intelligence will play in the future, and more a question of how the frontline industry workers will adapt to the inevitable escalation of smart systems, smart buildings, and smart cities.
