A joint venture between EPISO 5, a fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners, and Trammell Crow Company, the Welcome Building will also target BREEAM Outstanding and is the first Bristol office development to target Well Platinum Certification, alongside Five at Heart Platinum.
The Welcome Building, designed by Darling Associates Architects, is an all-electric workspace with PV cells on the roof as well as being connected to the Bristol Heat Network, from which it extracts its heat load.
NABERS is an Australian national building performance rating system, entered the UK market in 2020, administered by The Building Research Establishment (BRE). The UK scheme has nearly 150 new and refurbished office buildings setting NABERS UK Design for Performance targets, representing a significant portion of UK office developments. The scheme has been administered by The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) since 2024.
Toby Pentecost, Senior Vice President and Had of UK offices at Trammell Crow Company, said: “When creating Welcome Building, we set out to deliver a sustainable, exceptional-quality, occupier-focused environment that would be sustainable and promote wellbeing. We wanted to ensure that it was also efficient in operation, minimising its impact on the environment for the long-term.
“The NABERS Design for Performance Target Rating of 5 Stars that we have achieved demonstrates our commitment to not only achieve that goal but sets the bar high for others to follow, not just in the South West but across the UK.”
