• FM Companies Honour USA’s Black History Month

February is Black History Month across the USA, an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans. What have FM service providers and commercial property companies been doing to commemorate the month? 

 

Sodexo – African American Leadership Forum

 

For 2021’s Black History Month, the African American Leadership Forum (AALF) encouraged staff with the theme “Knowing Your Purpose.” They’re building on that momentum this year with the Black History Month theme “Dig Deeper: Black History and Future.”

Featured events and activities during the month include:

 

• A movie club co-sponsored by AALF and the Sodexo Organisation for Latinos (SOL)
• A book club Fireside Chat
• A spotlight conversation with the team members who founded the AALF employee business resource group 20 years ago
• Straight Talk conversations that emphasise real conversations about challenging subjects
• A focus on community health and wellness
• Features for Black-owned businesses
• Keeping the voting rights conversation front of mind through information and resource sharing

 

Sodexo has also produced an inclusion resource library for tips on developing an inclusive corporate culture and inclusive leadership

 

CBRE – African American Network Group

 

CBRE’s African American Network Group (AANG) started as a group of four sales professionals and has grown to include more than 900 employees in all business segments at CBRE throughout their US locations.

For Black History Month 2022, CBRE has been sharing inspiring stories from several BAME employees on social media, including Senior Vice President Jamie Brooks who shared his perspective on creating community impact through inclusive economic development.

 

Celebrating Black History Month 2022 Virtually

 

Seramount recommends several virtual offerings this year to celebrate Black History Month:

 

• A walk through Harlem
• A virtual Freedom March from Selma to Montgomery
• The 2022 Black History Month Virtual Festival hosted by ASALH
• A tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture
• A tour of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights
