Read Full ArticleThe IWFM Workspace Special Interest Group has appointed a new Chair: Ian Baker, Head of Workplace at EMCOR UK.
The IWFM has 11 Special Interest Groups that cover a variety of themes, including sustainability, technology and people management. The Workplace SIG represents disciplines such as management and culture, spatial design, technology, fit-out and people planning. The group meets regularly to debate on key issues and to share best practice insights.
Ian Baker has been on the Workspace SIG committee since August 2020 and takes over as Chair from Simone Fenton-Jarvis, who is now a non-executive director at the IWFM.
Baker has an extensive background in property consulting and management, as client, consultant and part of delivery teams. In 2018 he was involved in a government funded project to review the effects that indoor environmental conditions can have on cognitive performance and productivity. Baker has also presented on workplace topics at industry events such as Workplace Trends, and his first act as Chair of the Workspace SIG will be to present at the IWFM London Region Conference “Back to the Future” event on 15 November.
Ian Baker commented on his appointment: “The Workspace SIG has been such a valuable resource for me since I joined. It’s allowed all members to share best practice and support each other, which has been hugely beneficial during the last few years. As Chair, I hope to grow the committee further and ensure we stay on top of all workspace trends.”
The Workspace SIG is currently recruiting committee members. To register your interest or find out more, please contact communities@iwfm.org.uk.
