In 2019, two eight-story towers became the new office of JetBrains in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is now a best-in-class example of a "green campus".

Overlooking the Gulf of Finland, the complex is focussed on the comfort and wellbeing of its 1,000 housed employees, featuring biophilic design and year-round garden space.

Ben van Berkel, architect UNStudio’s Founder and Principal Architect said:

“JetBrains is a highly innovative company. This meant that we were able to bring everything that we have learnt from designing contemporary work campuses to this design and could create a warm, green, transparent, open and inviting office that stimulates total interaction.”

For the large atrium, a highly transparent, zigzagged facade was chosen, at times spanning the height of three floors. Image Credit: JetBrains

In UNStudio’s proposal, the galleries are used as an orangery/winter garden for outdoor plants, which can then be placed outdoors in the Summer months. Image Credit: Unstudio
